Smt. Indira Rajan

"Sangeeth Nataka Academy" awardee Guru Smt. Indira Rajan hails from an Isai Vellalar family of the doyens of music and art. Her grand mother Sundarambal was a great bharathanatyam dancer. Her mother Sundara kamakshi was a musician of great repute. Her maternal uncle Balasubramaniam was a mridangist and her paternal uncle s K.N Dhanyathupani pillai and K.N Pakkiriswami PIllai were well known nattuvanars. Teacher as we call her, Started her gurukulam at the tender age of 5 under Kutralam ganesam PIllai. Her arangetram at the age of 9 was under the auspicious of M.K Thyagaraja Bhagavathar. She has performed extensively all over the world since her arangetram. Her skills as a nattuvanar is appluaded by critics. Fondly called as 'Nattuva Singam" by Suppudu, she has performed nattuvangam for stalwarts like Smt. Vyjayanthi mala Bali, Smt. Yamini krishnamoorthy, Alarmel Valli. She has traveled extensively across the globe to places like France, Switzerland, United states, London, Dubai, Singapore, Hong kong,Malaysia, South Africa , Srilanka Etc. So great is her reputation as a Nattuvanar that the Sangeeth nataka academy recognized her talent and entrusted her to train young aspirants in this art. 

Smt. Indira Rajan Stared Vadhini Natyalaya in 1968. With hundreds of arangetrams, her students are all over the world carrying on her pandanallur tradition. Smt. Mythili Kumar-USA, Smt.subha Parmar-USA, Smt. Charulatha Jayaraman-USA, Smt. Savithri of South africa to name a few...

Smt. Suba Parmar

Charulatha has had initial training under Smt. Suba Parmar. Smt. Suba Parmar is also a disciple of Smt. Indira Rajan. Popularly known as 'Queen of Karanas', Suba Parmar is the artistic director of Shubanjali school of performing arts of New Jersey. With over 30 years of experience in this field of art, her creations reflect a wide range of artistic expressions ranging from traditional works to inter-cultural collaborations with artistes of diverse cultures. She has directed and produced several award winning mythological and contemporary dance dramas including "Dance of the Mind", "Shakthi", "Ramayana", "Tales of Krishna", "Chauladevi", Santa N' Shiva, Splash the Wonder, to name a few. Smt. Suba teaches BharataNatyam at Vivekananda Vidyapith, a premier cultural organization, and regularly performs and conducts workshops at Sivananda Yoga centers around the world helping them understand the tradition and the significance behind the postures and creating a visual experience by weaving the unlimited vocabulary of Indian dance into story ballets.
